Early close times & Late Openings

Urbis sometimes closes early due to special events...

  • On Wd 14 May we will close at the earlier time of 4pm.
  •  On Sun 13 July Urbis is closed to all over 18’s.

Urbis offers a  series of guided tours which are a fantastic introduction to our building and Manchester's colourful history, past and present, which we run daily. Click here for more information.

Access and Facilities:

Urbis aims to be as accessible as possible. We offer a range of facilities and services to help you make the most of your visit.

Parking facilities

Limited disabled parking spaces are available in the Todd Street lay by adjacent to North side of Urbis for a maximum stay of 3 hours.

Wheelchair provisions.

There are 2 manual wheelchairs which are available on request. Please contact a member of staff on arrival, but to ensure that you are not disappointed, we would advise you to telephone us on 0161 605 8200 to reserve a wheelchair in advance. Please note that wheelchairs are self operated. If you need assistance with access around the building please inform us before your visit.

Large Print Guides

The information booklets are available in large print format on request are produced following the RNIB's 'See it Right' clear print guidelines. Please call 0161 605 8200/email info@urbis.org.uk for any further assistance or alternatively see a member of staff the information desk in the main foyer.

Large print boards at each entrance indicate where the main exhibits and facilities are located.

Emergency exits use symbols to aid reading by the visually impaired.

Audio Support

Where possible we offer sound guides for all visitors. If you wish to obtain a guide they can be picked up at the Information desk situated in the main foyer. A charge applies for this service.

Disabled toilets

Disabled toilets are available on the ground floor and first floor. Wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities are equipped with handrails and emergency cords.

family friendly

Urbis welcomes family groups of all ages. We hold regular family focused activities every Saturday and in the holiday periods. We have mouthwatering meals for young ones and high chairs in our cafe. We also have baby changing facilities available.

Staff

Our fully trained staff are always on hand to answer any questions you may have and are always happy to offer assistance.

Assistance Dogs

Dogs are not admitted except for support dogs for blind and deaf people.

Urbis operates a zero tolerance policy towards anti-social behaviour.

Urbis reserves the right to ask any visitor to leave if their behaviour is deemed contrary to this policy.
