Constructing the aftermath of invented religions and transcendental experiences from materials mined from vernacular culture, hardware stores and inherited collections of fabrics, we mimic the human endeavour to understand the universe through a bizarre confluence of real events, daydreams and pre-existing fables. Floating under a cloud of white umbrellas at Urbis is Holy Ghost; a parapsychological examination of paranormal phenomena and the belief that the finite can actually communicate with the infinite. Pulled from the fertile environment of our fears and longings and polluted with filth, obsessions, crushes, jealousy and grace is a large floating textile head of Jesus Christ. Swarming around Jesus Christ's head and cast into form, foam and wood print fabric planks, surgical tubing, and felt skulls and bones rise in an impossible tower toward the heavens. Grounding a cornerstone of "Holy Ghost" are a set of praying hands representing a history of anecdotal evidence supporting the meta-narrative in the form of myths, legends, and religious documentation. Like billions of years of sediment, layers of coloured felt form the image of the praying hands.
