Inspired by ten original flash fiction (short, short) stories from writers around the country, students from the Interactive Arts degree at MMU have created a one hour live art and installation performance at Urbis in ten different sites around the building and on-line. Exploring the gruesome, the sublime, the lonely and the hilarious, this promenade performance is a unique and one-time only opportunity to see creative talent that will make your head spin.

Join us at Urbis as night falls and the Urban Myths are re-told.

There were some excellent ideas in the work submitted - funny, bizarre, disturbing, sometimes horrifying. The stories included re-workings of known urban myths as well as brand new myths specially created to give the judges nightmare.  Kidneys were stolen, words repeated into mirrors, ghosts given lifts home, suicides prevented by angels, there was more then one example of a nightclubbing vampire, and mobile phones and the internet made several appearances. What struck us most was the innovation of the writers, and the quality of the prose, which was second to none. The winners were chosen because they embraced the theme and executed their ideas with skill, telling a good story and dazzling us with their language skills along the way.
