Shudehill Bus StationAs part of our forthcoming State of the Art: New York exhibition (opens April 09) artist group Forays have created a satellite exhibit at Shudehill Station. Light boxes display ‘hack charts’, exploring ways to re-use infrastructures of a city, particularly New York and Manchester. www.forays.org
Exodus Shorts is a unique film festival that showcases the talents of refugee filmmakers as well as short films that give a fresh and diverse perspective on the lives of migrant communities. There are 6 short films showing at Urbis as part of the festival.

A film looking at a school called Starting Point, located in a predominantly white estate, and is unique in that it is only for immigrant children that have come to live in Bolton.
A series of short animations produced by refugee women from Medical Foundation, an organization that supports victims of torture. These animations were produced as part of a 10 week project and explore various personal experiences, interest and memories. The films include: Believe In God by Suzannah, The Prodigal Son by Ruth, The Family by Solange, The Little Fish and The Fisherman by Rita and The Real Life by Grace.
Hermann is entering the empty entrance hall of the Anhalter Station which will soon to be demolished. The longer he stays the stronger his memories and visions become.
Why is everyone after the most treasured skipping rope in the world? A comical take on an object of special significance to its Guardian Keeper is sharply set to the classic mambo track “Guaglione” by the Perez Prado Orchestra.
Three women from Congo and Iran talk about objects they have kept of special significance, through which we find out about the context to their current lives in the UK. A sensitive and thoughtful insight created during local discussion sessions.
21 May – 2 August The Corridor An exhibition dedicated to Manchester’s haunted buildings and the ghosts that lie within........
Manchester is a historic city, with many tales and stories to tell. Some of the oldest and most unique buildings in the country are here, many of which are said to contain reports and sightings of ghostly activity and other strange phenomena.
With 80 specially commissioned photographs, this exhibition will show you these remarkable buildings and their frightening and often poignant stories of long dead inhabitants. Find out about Manchester’s most haunted bus, the nightclub which used to be a church hall, the sad and doomed love affair between May and Herbert at The Palace Theatre in 1891 and the headless hound of Manchester Cathedral.
